The KwaZulu – Natal Land Administration Act, 2003 mandates the MEC for Public Works in KwaZulu – Natal to keep a register of all fixed assets in the Province. The Department has therefore acquired a fixed asset register for professional Real Estate Management Information System (PREMIS)

The first phase was the population of PREMIS with available information and the system is continually  updated. PREMIS now has the functionally to be used for payment of property rates, to deal with hiring, lettings, acquisitions and disposals.
