Long Service Award and its Significance

Public Works' eThekwini Region was once again 'in the limelight' on 'enterprise social networks' as it hosted the "Long Service Awards" ceremony on Monday 1 October 2018 at the department’s eThekwini Conference Centre in Mayville, Durban. The event was graced by Dr Gaster Gilbert Sharpley, the Head of Department (HOD), in honour of approximately 109 employees (males and females), who have duly completed faithful service in the Public Service (between 10 yrs. to 40 yrs.) while in the employ of KwaZulu-Natal Department of Public Works. Three male officials who walked away with a laudable and praiseworthy 40 yrs. of faithful service award certificates are Messrs Nteshane, Ndebele and Pulsee.

Accompanying the HOD was Mr Phiweyo Duma, the Chief Director for Corporate Services and Ms Dudu Fihlela, the Regional Director for eThekwini Region. They were very eloquent, vocal and realistic as they delivered their speeches in accordance to the programme’s title allocation respectively.

Ms Nokubonga Mhlongo, the Regional Head for Human Resource Management and event’s Programme Director has been instrumental in spearheading such a strategic but prestigious event. The programme outline was so compact that the speakers, award recipients and guests got the day’s event a worthy place to spend with honour, inner peace and happiness.
