'Good Governance': A Key Subject Matter During The EPWP Councillors Workshop for Amajuba District Municipality

On Wednesday, 27 February 2019, the 9th Leg of KZN EPWP Provincial Councillors Workshop continued with enthusiasm and commitment as all role-players and invited guests gathered at the Richview Civic Hall in Newcastle, within the Amajuba District Municipality. The Acting Mayor, Cllr Dudu Sibiya together with Deputy Mayor, Honourable Nkosi, graced the event with sincere forthrightness. Mr Thulani Mdadane, the Deputy Director-General for Infrastructure Maintenance and Technical Support, led the KZN Public Works delegation and the event proceedings with deepest wisdom and candidness. The workshop has been a continuation of a series of similar workshops since MEC Pillay officially opened it on the 7th of February 2019. Notwithstanding the fact that the workshops address issues of ‘good governance’, municipality challenges vary from one to the other due to the nature, size and service needs of communities they serve. The workshops have to be regarded and treated as instruments that will unlock the cycle of poverty among all citizenry in order that the fortunes of freedom and democracy be realized. All praises are extended to Mr Xolani Xulu, the Public Works’ Director for EPWP, and his team, who, amid such a heavy project exercise made work life look quite well, enjoyable, conducive and fathomable.
