KZN EPWP Councillors' Workshop Set To Benefit uMzinyathi District Municipality

In his welcoming address at the KZN EPWP Provincial Councillors' Workshop, His Worship, the Mayor for Umzinyathi District Municipality, Mr Ngubane reiterated his humbleness for being part of such an august gathering. The event was held on Thursday 28 February 2019 at McKenzie Civic Hall in Dundee. Needless his pressing work schedules on the day, Mr Ngubane honoured the invitation. He even reiterated with excitement and appreciation on how EPWP continued to bringing about significant social changes while breaking the cycle of poverty and equally advancing peoples’ lives within the District. This was the 10th leg of the workshop preceded by similar workshops since the 7th of February 2019.

The presenters (Mrs Nokwanda Dube, Dr Sipho Ndlovu, Mr Vusi Mkhize and Mr Thabani Mazibuko) made quite a sterling job throughout the sessions. Presentations were prepared and conducted with intent ability, knowledge and skill to afford Councillors in attendance the room for adequate comprehension of their roles and responsibilities towards EPWP ‘good governance’ and related standard operating procedures. It is therefore indicative that the workshop has gained ground to paving all huddles with ease so that EPWP operational activities must begin to yielding results, while there is prudent use of allocated resources and modest application of operational standards.

In an appealing ‘thanks giving’ address, Dr Sikhakhane, the District Speaker, made a commitment and guarantee to all in attendance that in the coming financial year the District Councillors will be counted amongst those that shall have achieved the best on EPWP and CWP programmes. In his concluding remarks, he commended Mr Thulani Mdadane, the Deputy Director-General for Public Works Infrastructure Maintenance and Technical Support and his team for having made all efforts to ensuring that a message is clear to all Councillors – “#KNOWYOUREPWP”
