On Wednesday 25 March 2020, KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Human Settlements and Public Works Neliswa Peggy Nkonyeni in her capacity as Operation Sukuma Sakhe (OSS) MEC Champion for Ilembe District Municipality held a District COVID 19 Information Session for Amakhosi. The purpose of this session was to further disseminate Government action in the wake of the declaration of the State of Disaster and the subsequent 21-day National Lockdown as pronounced by the State President on Monday.
Prior to the meeting with Amakhosi, the MEC together with District Mayor visited Manda Farm area where they interacted with members of the community, educating them about the Coronavirus and allaying their fears about the pandemic. In addition they also distributed Coronavirus awareness pamphlets and also handed over sanitizers to households.
