Amajuba District & The EPWP Team – A Force To Reckon

The 4th EPWP Focus Week roadshow headed to the Amajuba District Municipality on Friday 20 November 2020. The session was convened at the Amajuba District Municipality Council Chamber in Newcastle. Amajuba District has been well known for leading the entire pack of KwaZulu-Natal province municipalities when it comes to community development, good governance, service delivery, the advanced management and coordination of the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP). However, with known and unknown reasons, things took a deep dive. All began to go wrong during the past few service delivery years or so. However, through dedication, commitment, denial to failure and strong leadership, the district management brought it back to life.

Yes, it is realistic that in any institution (public and private), there is a work operational model. Such model does have some sporadic barriers that would normally signal service delivery deficiencies. Amid the challenges and other problems the district got confronted with during the stages, including the Covid-19 pandemic, there has been at least a ‘small pocket of excellence’ achieved by the district.

It is therefore with keen interest and appreciation to report that Amajuba District’s EPWP Coordinator and Champion, Mr. Vijay Singh, managed to step up his agile ambitions, experience, thoughtfulness and diligence by ensuring that EPWP makes its mark where it matters most. Truly so and for sure, the district leadership has been at the forefront to support Vijay and his EPWP team of beneficiaries. Consequently, on Friday 20 November 2020, the EPWP Focus Week offered a platform for guests in attendance to witness a forceful Amajuba District EPWP team that shared an undeniable positive picture and uncut business testimonies from beneficiaries that signified positivity. This was nothing but a big “Thank You to Public Works & EPWP as a component”. This is nothing but a reflection of an effective service and support offered by Mr Dlamini and his formidable team.
