MEC Sibiya: "We Are All Equal, Having Different Roles and Responsibilities"

It was Friday the 13th of August 2021 as the honourable MEC for Human Settlements and Public Works, Mr Ntuthuko 'Jomo' Mbongiseni Sibiya MPL, accompanied by his entourage, fulfilled his commitment to visit the department’s North Coast regional management and staff at Ulundi. Accompanying MEC Sibiya was the department’s executive team led by Mr Sboniso Majola, the Department’s acting Director-General. Amongst them were Mr Phiweyo Duma, the Deputy Director-General for Corporate Services, Ms. Xolile Ntanzi, the acting Deputy Director-General for Immovable Asset Management and Ms. Zinhle Pfute, the acting Deputy Director-General for Infrastructure Maintenance & Technical Support.

The day’s visit was signified by a very cold and rainy weather that cuddled all esteemed attendees in their warm mufti gear as they gathered into the Old Legislature Building’s Chamber. It should be acknowledged that all Covid-19 regulations and protocols were appropriately observed. The program was direct and well-managed, under the care of Ms. Dudu Fihlela, the Regional Director for North Coast Region together with Mr. Sboniso Majola.

It was an official business day and nothing else but ‘business’. As the MEC took to the podium, the atmosphere in the Chamber got a bit chilled, the looks and faces from some members of the audience displayed slight mixed feelings of gaiety and anxiety. However, Jomo’s introductory remarks became the pinnacle of an eloquent leader. It was his pure expression, humble but direct talk that changed the mood of every individual in the Chamber. The quietness of the throng and humble greetings from Jomo Sibiya’s inspiring speech brought smiles and affirming applause. If you were not there, the event cannot be replayed but continue to read this piece.
