Youth month ended on the peak note as the MEC of Public Works and Human Settlement Mr Ntuthuko “Jomo” Sibiya visited KwaNongoma (kwaMaye and Dabhasi location), on Thursday the 30th of June 2022.

The purpose of the event was to encourage the youth of kwaNongoma about opportunities available for them in terms of career path, bursaries and job opportunities. Amongst the attendees that were present was the stakeholders from University of KwaZulu Natal, Mthashane TVET College, Department of labour, SASSA, Department of Health and Zululand District Municipality.

The MEC urged the youth of kwaNongoma to grab every opportunities that are presented by the government. “The time has come to make changes in the communities and that change will only happen if the youth grab and avail themselves on opportunities presented to them.” MEC said. He also advised parents to take initiative regarding the future of the youth.

Mr Banele Ncampalala who is a Public Works bursary beneficiary now works as an Architect, encouraged the youth to work hard as possible to achieve their goals. “Your dreams are valid nothing is impossible.”

Ms Sanelisiwe Mlotshwa who is also a bursary beneficiary from Human Settlements passed the word of encouragement to the youth to take every opportunities that comes to them, as the government opened his arms to assist the youth of south Africa, and it is very important to choose the right career path and that has the more opportunities.

The day did not end with the career expo, as the MEC visited few under privileged citizens of kwamaye location. One of the citizen that were visited is Mr Mbatha who is in need for an RDP house. MEC assured that Mr Mbatha get the RDP house with a water tank and fully fenced in a period of three weeks.
