KWAZULU-NATAL: The staff complement of the KZN Department of Public Works and Infrastructure (DPW&I) comprises a substantial number of colleagues who fall under the youth bracket in terms of age.
On Thursday, 26 June 2025, a large cohort of Internship Recruits (IR) who are part of the DPW&I family converged at the Main Auditorium to celebrate this year’s youth day, under the theme: “Skills for the Changing World – Empowering Youth for Meaningful Economic Participation.”
The day’s proceedings mainly targeted the youth, ranging from permanent staff members to IRs who are currently undergoing practical and experiential training programmes spearheaded by various departmental Directorates.
Cementing such a special celebration, the youth in attendance gave a smart nod of approval to the brains behind the implementation of this crucial idea.
A plethora of informative presentations on tangible government initiatives designed to promote youth empowerment became the order of the day.
Among others, the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) representative offered a moving presentation on the Role of Youth in Building a Capable, Ethical and Developmental State.
