






The KwaZulu-Natal Cabinet has set aside the entire day to interact directly with residents who hail from the Uthukela District’s family of Municipalities. On Wednesday, 29 October 2025, the MEC for KZN Public Works and Infrastructure, Mr Martin Meyer, is criss-crossing various community development projects located in ward 16 in the jurisdiction of the Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality in Escourt.
The MEC’s visit is intended to gauge progress made and address service delivery related issues detected since the inception of these critical projects. Projects visits conducted under the banner of a service delivery-oriented programme, dubbed, Operation Sukuma Sakhe, entail Shayamoya Rural Housing and Mhubheni Water Scheme Projects. The day commenced with a briefing session that took place at Shayamoya Community Hall. This is where a detailed ward profile was presented to all stakeholders present.
The MEC for KZN Public Works and Infrastructure, Martin Meyer further visited the Hlatshwayo household in Ward 16, INkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality, Estcourt.
The family forms part of beneficiaries earmarked to receive decent government houses, which are currently under construction within the ongoing Shayamoya Rural Housing Project.
The MEC later proceeded to the Mhubheni Water Scheme project located in ward 16. This is where the construction of bulk water supply vessels and reticulation systems are being executed to ultimately benefit the community of Ntabamhlophe via communal standpipes.
The day was successfully concluded with a community engagement event held at Mdwebu Sportsfield.
