Ilembe: On Friday 21 June 2024 the KwaZulu Natal Department of Public Works and Infrastructure initiated the District – Based Disability Application (APP) Rollout at Stranger Town Hall.

This forms part of a continuous rollout since the technological APP was launched in November 2022 and was created to aid people with disabilities to make their day to day engaging in commerce and access to public sector supply chain management processes.

The sessions help ensure registration for the disability sectors using their mobile phones and laptops to do the following:

  • Skills Development
  • Bidding Opportunities
  • Formal Employment
  • EPWP job creation intervention
  • Access to Opportunities on land and Government
  • Facilities Disposal
  • Contractor Training Intervention

Delivering the purpose of the day, Ms Delisile Mncube Director Youth: Women; Persons with Disabilities and Military Veterans, encouraged the attendees to embrace the APP to reap its benefits. “Despite some challenges, we have persevered to keep the APP fully functional in order to assist people in the disability community.

A series of rollout sessions will proceed to other District Municipality which includes uMzinyathi , uGu, uMgungundlovu , Amajuba, uThukela , Zululand and King Cetshwayo.
