The KZN Department of Public Works and Infrastructure (DPW&I), in collaboration with the Special Investigating Unit (SIU), conducted an informative Fraud and Corruption Awareness Campaign held on Thursday, 25 June 2026.
As part of presentations and robust engagements that formed part of the day’s proceedings at the DPW&I’s Main Auditorium in Pietermaritzburg, the SIU representatives reflected on their role in investigating serious maladministration, corruption and fraud involving state institutions.
The key trends and observations that took centre stage as identified by the SIU within the sector ranged from common fraud and corruption, risks associated with procurement, and contract management.
The SIU’s Targeted Awareness Campaign coupled with the Systemic Improvement Plan compliment MEC Martin Meyer’s rock-solid stance against fraud and corruption within the Department.
