EPWP Integrated Grant Workshop Talks the Money Language

ETHEKWINI: On April 11, 2024, the Head Office of the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Public Works played host to the EPWP Integrated Grant Workshop (EPWP-IGW).
The EPWP-IGW convened under the banner of the Provincial Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) was held at the iLembe Conference Centre in Mayville, Durban.
In order for Government Departments and Municipalities to realise a string of prescribed EPWP targets in place, a need to host such an engagement was identified with an intention to share information pertaining to various forms of grants which are set aside for this particular purpose.
The day’s proceedings were driven by the Director: EPWP Provincial Coordinator, Ms Nondumiso Mahlaba, one of the renowned EPWP foot soldiers entrusted with a responsibility to represent the Department across all Municipal jurisdictions in KwaZulu-Natal.

Speaking the money language, Deputy Director: Finance, Mr Azwiitei Sihadi made a first presentation on the 2023/2024 Expenditure for the EPWP Integrated Grant, followed by the 2024/2025 Division of Revenue Bill. Mr Sihadi’s presentation also reflected on the planning processes undertaken by the Department in order to solicit Conditional Grants and Disbursement of Incentive Grants.
The second presentation made by Deputy Director: EPWP National Reporting, Maureen Morulane focused on the Integrated Grant projects for the 2023/24 Financial Year, the Submission of Quarterly Evaluation Reports for the 2023/24 Financial Year, the EPWP Integrated Grant Model, the approved allocation for the 2024/25 Financial Year.
She further provided some clarification pertaining to submission of Outstanding Quarterly Reports, Submission and Reporting of Grant projects for the Department and the respective Municipalities.
The meeting was favoured with information on the Provincial Models designed for the Eligibility of Provincial Government Departments, EPWP Integrated Grant Factors for Provinces and relevant Technical Support Programme.

Towards the end of the programme, participants were afforded an opportunity to comment, make inputs and also deliberate on presentations made during the course of the workshop. This further chanted a way forward leading to the new service delivery phase, financial year 2024/2025.
