Background	The site was handed over to the contractor on the 30/07/2008 with a contract period of 15 months. An estimated First Delivery of 30/04/2010. Quantity Survey : QS 2000 Plus Structural Engineers : BKS PTY LIMITED Principal Agent : MET BUILDERS Electric Engineers : uLangeni Electric Engineer Project Manger : KZN DPW The Project Steering Committee ( PSC ) has been established to address social issues main project are discussed and assist in the recruitment of unskilled local community. The project is 70% complete, electricity & Water is to be connected in March 2010

Project Status
Work Undertaken	The project scope involves construction of forensic mortuary The contract per project initially was 15 months but has been extended up to June 2010. The expenditure to date is amounting to 19 739 505.60
Innovativeness of the project	The project is not necessarily EPWP defined but the elements are instilled through the employment of local labourers. The employees have been trained on Occupational Health and Safety (OHS), HIV/AIDS and scuffing erections
NYS Placement	2 NYS learners’ phase 2, bricklaying & plastering have been extended practical training to March 2010.
Impact on the Community	Established ( PSC) has intensified the hiring of unemployed local laborers with the aim of alleviating poverty and skill transfers objective 34 laboures have been employed at this project Local laboures Youth – 20 Women -14 Other – 11 2 Local youth were trained on scuffing erection,3 NYS Phase 1 learners ( Carpentry ) have been absorbed by the contractor till completion of Eshowe Mortuary. Electircal work has been subcontracted to CSI electrical Plastering of screeds surface on the floor has been subcontracted by MG Masiya.
