After completing a full audit of our property portfolio, the KZN Department of Public Works & Infrastructure identified assets that were no longer serving a public purpose. A decision was made to release 81 of these properties for community use, with schools, NGOs, and skills development centres given priority.
That commitment was honoured. A parcel of land was handed over to an NGO dedicated to supporting children with Autism, who will use it to build a school designed to meet their specific needs.
Responsible asset management means using what we have to serve those who need it most.
