KwaXimba Community Projects Confirmed and Applauded During Operation Sukuma Sakhe Cabinet Day

Such projects include newly-built boreholes and bridges to be reconstructed and upgraded.
ETHEKWINI: On Wednesday, 27 March 2024 the KwaZulu-Natal Cabinet led by the Premier Nomusa Dube-Ncube hosted the Ethekwini Metro - Operation Sukuma Sakhe (OSS) Cabinet Day programme.
As part of the aforesaid community outreach programme, the Head of Department for the KZN Department of Public Works Mr Sboniso Majola accompanied the provincial MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison Mr Sipho Hlomuka who has been deployed to oversee projects and resolve service delivery challenges affecting the community of KwaXimba, Ward 1, Number 9 area, which lies on the Outer West region of Durban.
The days’ proceedings commenced with a briefing session held at the KwaXimba Tribal Court. KZN Premier who graced the session encouraged all provincial Government Departments to work tirelessly in ensuring effective service delivery.
Immediately after the briefing was concluded, the delegation proceeded to various community development projects spearheaded by various provincial government departments.
Projects visited included 3 bridges to be reconstructed and upgraded, 2 newly-built boreholes and a project site of a new Reservoir which is currently under construction.
The day came to a close with a community engagement at INkosi Msinga Mlaba Sports Centre where scores of community members were afforded an opportunity to directly interact with government leaders on service delivery achievements and challenges facing them.
MEC Hlomuka in collaboration with HOD Majola assured the general electorate that, relevant government officials will interrogate all issues raised with an intention to rectify challenges as identified.
On the same token, in an effort to address water-related challenges in the area, the Premier, MEC Hlomuka, HOD Majola accompanied by INkosi Mlaba officially handed over 2 boreholes to the community.
This was followed by a formal introduction of a contractor who has been appointed to construct the Msunduzi River Bridge as well as two other bridges which were ravaged by recent storms in uMshwathi.
