KZN Works

The KZN Department of Public Works and Infrastructure (DPWI) hosted an informative workshop on Ethics Awareness, focusing on complex financial offenses.

The workshop was held on Thursday, 28 August 2025, at the Head Office Main Auditorium in Pietermaritzburg.

It (the workshop) was aimed at equipping employees with prerequisite knowledge and skills required in order to maintain the highest professional and ethical standards in the workplace.

This further plays a significant role in terms of making informed ethical decisions.

The session was conducted in collaboration with the KZN Office of the Premier, Special Investigating Unit (SIU) and the Specialised Commercial Crime Unit (SCCU), which is mandated to investigate and prosecute organized commercial crimes.

Invited guest speakers covered detailed presentations on the actual role of the SIU in combating fraud and corruption in state institutions, Witness Protection Guide, and Protected Disclosures Amendment Act.

Attendees representing the DPWI’s Head Office and the Southern Region fruitfully engaged the presentations as they were afforded a question-and-answer slot towards the end of the programme.
