KZN Works

On Tuesday, 10 February 2026, the Department was in Amajuba District as part of the provincial cabinet’s emergency intervention drive. As the custodian of provincial infrastructure, KZN DPW&I is identifying strategic ways to leverage our resources and assets to support containment and mitigation efforts. Protecting our agricultural economy requires a unified approach.

The department is committed to working alongside all departments and stakeholders to ensure a swift recovery for our communities.  A productive community engagement was also held bringing together officials, farmers, and local stakeholders. The session focused on Improving coordination, clearing up misconceptions, explaining the protocols for livestock movement.

MEC Martin Meyer emphasized that communication is our strongest tool against the Foot and Mouth outbreak.

KZN DPW&I is working hand-in-hand with municipalities and sister departments to coordinate the infrastructure and logistics needed for these interventions. By securing our livestock, we secure our food supply. KZN has overcome many challenges before, and together, we shall prevail again.
