Two years, 10 067 assets. One system nobody else in the country has built. KZN Public Works and Infrastructure on Friday 03 July 2026 was named Best Innovative Department in Government at the Premiers Excellence Awards, for physically tracking down and logging every single asset it owns, then building a live system to manage all of it in real time.
Eleven unused land plots have already been handed over for community skills development, straight from the system’s own data.
